22 October 2019 - Yesterday the Bulgarian Prime Minister Mr. Bojko Borisov, with the Saudi Deputy Minister of Energy and Senior executives from Bulgartransgaz, Arkad Consortium and other senior officials from Bulgaria, Serbia, Russia and Hungary, visited the site to mark the official start of the construction activity of the gas pipeline connecting the Turkish-Bulgarian border to the Bulgarian-Serbian border.
This is a challenging project worth 1.1 billion euro, awarded by Bulgartransgaz EAD, the state gas operator, to the Consortium ARKAD formed by the Saudi group Arkad Engineering & Construction Company and the Italian Arkad-ABB SpA. Once completed, the “Balkan Stream” pipeline will be a reliable source of gas for southern and south-eastern Europe.
We are proud to confirm that the Arkad Consortium has achieved a record result of initial site mobilization and welding in 15 days from contract award. So far, Arkad has completed the construction of 18km of ROW, a 5 km trench, few hundred-meter welding and 6.6 KM of pipes are ready for laying.
